The Storey

"The Storey"

After a career of 24 years working with major brands while living in the UK, US, and Canada, Jason decided to pursue his dream which meant leaving the corporate world to establish Mödstar Design & Build. Combining significant business experience with tenacious creativity that started at an early age as both a maker and musician playing live shows was a no brainer. Jason always felt that brand building, product development, and perpetual innovation had a place in a modern woodworking shop. That + application of Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing used in conjunction with Jason’s operational experience of auditing and contract management of 100+ world class manufacturing facilities provided confidence which is paramount from concept through to creation. By designing and fabricating furniture in small batches, Jason believes the connectedness between the maker and the product speaks volumes. This approach allows for a distinct "product focussed” business with sustainable cost structures behind the scenes versus a solely "profit focussed" business which can often erode a customer's experience.

Jason holds a Bachelor degree in Business Administration, former Supply Chain Designation (SCMP), and is academically trained in cabinetry and furniture design and fabrication. Other achievements applicable to Mödstar Design & Build include certification in Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, project management (PMP), and Quality Management Systems (QMS). In addition, Jason remains connected with a peer group which stems from business executives, engineers, and fellow makers.

Quote (under bio picture?)

“Modstar Design & Build is more than a business to me, it is an outlet to harness an obsessive passion for creativity knowing each creation can be enjoyed by many throughout the life cycle of each product”

“When you make a purchase from Modstar Design & Build, you’re not only getting a limited premium piece of furniture, your purchase goes to a family business with an established local supply chain wherever and whenever possible.”
